1996: how it all went down.

Participants act out and read letters to the editor, comments by the mayor and council, notes from the Pride committee, notes from the Human Rights submission, and other material from the 1996 archive (about 60 minutes). Observers in the gallery will come away understanding how the first Pride parade in Nelson was created, even in the face of active resistance. Small group discussions follow the presentation (about 30 minutes).

There is time at the beginning to view materials and photo albums. This one is excellent for elders and for those under 50 alike, as well as for anyone new to the area. Youth are particularly invited to take a role.
